With the digital age such a part of our daily life, keeping up with friends and family is an easy task. It takes just one scroll through Facebook to know what everyone is up to, and see their happy faces smiling back at you from recent birthday parties, BBQ’s, and more.
However, something that I do miss?
Hand Written Cards.
You know what I miss? Hand written cards.Click To TweetI’m not sure when this stopped, and I am guilty myself, but I so miss the beauty of a hand written card. A card to say hello, a card of congratulations; hell, even birthday party and wedding invitations are sent via e-mail.
If you’re anything like me, you have about 4,000 e-mails in your inbox at any given time and very easily lose track of e-mail birthday invites, event invitations, and birth announcements. Admittedly, my own child has missed a couple birthday parties because I didn’t realize that the birthday party invite was sitting in my “junk” e-mail folder, and I didn’t learn of the party until school pick-up when Barb cried to me that she wasn’t invited to so and so’s birthday– when in reality, she was, I just never saw it.
I scour the card section of every store I visit, and I am a card hoarder.
Recently, a company called BasicInvite.com reached out to me asking if I would like to try their customized service. I’m a bit picky about trying new things, and more importantly, especially picky about writing about new things- so I always go through the site and give it a thorough run-through before I make any commitments.
Friends- this site is AWESOME. At first, I was a little thrown off because I wasn’t really in the market for any of the cards that they offered. I didn’t have a birthday party to throw, I didn’t have a graduation announcement to send out, and I wasn’t planning on an Bar/Bat Mitzvah’s in my future.
However, I then looked a little further. This site is SO customizable. I went to the “Thank-You Cards” section and realized I could pretty much customize ANY card I wanted to. So, I decided to have a little fun! I decided that I wanted to make a dinosaur card (duh), a fun card for my little Barb Marley that she can mail to someone special, a customized “Thank-You” card from our family, as well as a fun card I can send to one of my girlfriends. They arrived in the mail the other day and here is a peak at a few of them!
Now, keep in mind that this site offers everything. You can send out beautiful wedding invitations, birth announcements, unique baby shower invitations and so much more. Most importantly- EVERYTHING is customizable.
After giving my shot at making some of my own customized cards (seeing I didn’t have any birthday parties, wedding invites, or birth announcement’s ((that I know of.. ;))) to create invites for), these were some of the unique perks that BasicInvite.com offers that made them stand out from the rest of the crowd:
-
Custom Samples – Basic Invite is one of the few websites that will allows customers the ability to order a printed sample of their actual invitation so they can see exactly how it will print as well as the paper quality before they ever have to place an order for 500 invitations. It’s nice to see what something will look like PRIOR to ending up with hundreds of invites you thought would look one way and actually turned out another. I just received 500 business cards with the wrong information on them from another company- SO THIS IS A PLUS!
-
Over 40 Different Colors of Envelopes – Customers can choose from over 40 different colors when it comes to their envelopes so that they can make their invitation stand out even before they are even opened. (Side Note- I LOVE ENVELOPES!) All of Basic Invite’s envelopes are also peel and seal so the envelopes can be quickly and securely closed without having to lick each one. (Justin screams at me each time I place an order with our business envelope company because I pay an absurd amount for the ‘Peel & Stick’ envelopes. Basic Invite INCLUDES these FOR FREE! WOO WOO!

Almost Unlimited Colors – Basic Invite is one of the few websites that allows customers almost unlimited color options with instant previews online. Once you select a design you can change the color of each element on the card to over 160 different color options. And, as you can see from some of my screen shots below- I did just that!
This was the card before I started:

It turned out so cute, right?! I love the black and yellow!
And, I’ll say that Barb was pretty impressed with her custom stationary:
Overall, I give this site an A+. I got confused with uploading an image for one of the cards I was creating and they had customer service bubble at the bottom of the screen and a representative immediately helped me remedy the situation. I’d call this one a win! So, if you’re in the market for… well, ANY type of card, especially graduation announcements, wedding invitations, unique baby shower invites, birth announcements, etc.- check out BasicInvite.com!

Sounds cool. I like that you can get a preview sample. That’s a nice feature. Like you said before you order a bunch & find out something is off. Your cards turned out nice!
Right? I really like that. Not just a digital sample, but a real life “HOLDING IN MY HANDS” kind of sample. It’s nice to see what it looks like before you order 500 BUSINESS CARDS!! lol
I’m obsessed with hand-written cards!!! I keep a stack on my office desk to remind myself to write/send them 🙂
omg ME TOO!! haha! I love cards SO much.
