Let’s face it, fundraising kind of blows.
You’re always chasing down friends and family begging them to buy whatever it is your child is slanging that month to raise money for their field trip, or to expand their new music program at school.
Unfortunately, it’s a necessary evil. If you don’t contribute to the fundraising events, you look like a bad parent, and if you do, you find yourself schlepping your kids around the neighborhood and banging on doors trying to sell cookie and pizza dough to your neighbors who are all now, miraculously, GLUTEN FREE.
I won’t lie when I say that sometimes I’ve just said “SCREW IT!” and written a check for $100.00 and sent my kid on her way.
My husband and I never turn down kids who are fundraising, which is why we are never out of cookie dough, or popcorn. Yes, popcorn- we actually just bought a bag from the Boy Scouts last week for FIFTEEN DOLLARS. Yes, you read that correctly, we spent $15.00 on a BAG OF POPCORN.
Well friends, and moms’ and dads’ of the PTA, I’ve got some good news. I was recently introduced to a new company called KEEKA. Keeka reached out to me and shared their fundraising model, and I have to admit- it’s freakin’ genius.
Members of the PTA or the fundraising organizers log onto Keeka.com and simply place an order for headphones.
Headphones? WHAT?! Stay with me here for a minute…
You order twenty pairs of headphones for $60.00USD. They come in a pre-packaged box (which is quite cute, if you ask me).
You child is now equipped with a box of headphones that literally appeal to almost everyone with a smart phone.
How you like THEM apples? Imagine how much easier this would have been back in our day? Rather than carrying around that pamphlet and trying to push $25.00 wrapping paper, kids can now be sent out and about with a cool KEEKA box full of headphones. And, let’s be honest here, who has not purchased at least three back up’s of headphones? Or, if you’re my family, you purchase a new pair every time you take a road trip because a certain someone seems to lose them at EVERY SINGLE STOP. (*cough* BARB MARLEY *cough*)
KEEKA’s site is so easy to use. You simply log onto www.Keeka.com and place an order for the number of boxes (of 20 sets of headphones) that you want.
What’s awesome about Keeka is that their headphones cost $3.00/pair, and most sell them for $10.00. Hell, in San Diego where you get $15.o0 for a bag of popcorn, you could probably even sell them for more than that! So, if you did sell them for $10.00/set, you’re making a profit total of $7.00/pair, which comes out to $140.00 per box!
Keeka includes everything you need in the kit from the headphones to tips on how to make sales, as well as instructions on how to order additional Keeka earphones.
Shipping runs at $9.95 for one tote, and $18.95 for four totes– and with the awesome factor these little totes hold, that’s well worth it. I’m actually thinking of forwarding this onto my daughter’s school so that they can have a look at this option for fundraising techniques for their school.
A couple shots I took of the Keeka headphones they sent me!
I seriously love this idea so much. If you enjoyed this post and think that you know of others that might benefit from it, please share it! I know that schools, PTA moms’ and dads’ are always looking for new, unique ways for fundraising and this is definitely one of them!
